Our History
Security Savings Bank is one of the largest savings institutions based in the state of Kansas.
Security Savings and Loan Association was founded in 1898 in downtown Salina, Kansas. In 1989, Donald H. Bell, Sr. and his wife Faith acquired ownership of the Bank and merged the institution with their existing institution-Security Savings and Loan in Garden City, Kansas-to create a single financial institution focused on residential lending. Soon after, the Bank opened an office in Olathe and quickly became an active construction and residential lender in the Kansas City market. In 1995, the Bank acquired United Savings Association in Wichita, positioning the institution for growth in the largest city in Kansas.
During the last decade, the Bank has dramatically expanded its menu of banking services, and today enjoys a strong reputation as a construction, residential and commercial real estate lender, as well as a provider of outstanding banking services and exemplary customer service.
Security Savings Bank now operates nine offices in Salina, Wichita and the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Our Story
Don and Faith Bell's business philosophy is simple: care about people first and good business will follow. That attitude is shared by the team members of Security Savings Bank. For us, a retirement account represents someone's dream of traveling later in life. An hour spent introducing a customer to automatic bill paying means more free time for family. A business loan represents money we can put back in the community.
Over the years, many of Don and Faith Bell's loved ones and friends asked the pair to share the story of their vision and values. After prayer and discussion, they were inspired to create a brochure entitled SolidGround™: The Story of Security Savings Bank, which tells the story of God using them to show that two ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. Their hope is that this publication will inspire others to take a similar leap of faith. The title, SolidGround™ represents the foundation of values upon which they stand. It is an expression of their faith; love for God, family, friends and country; as well as the commitment to the many customers the Bank serves.
